Brief the speaker on a decision.

“The future of finance” is a theme. What is the decision your audience needs to think through?

The perspective

A product leader may be weighing how to support hesitant investors. An adviser may be trying to explain uncertainty. A sustainable-finance team may be wrestling with trust and competing priorities.

For programme directors, a precise audience question helps shape the keynote, the panel and the discussion that follows. It also makes the intended takeaway easier to describe.

Lesley Li works with organisers as a speaker, moderator and host to connect financial-services themes with practical decisions. U Impact’s work on investor behaviour gives the conversation a concrete foundation.

Connect the theme to the audience’s work

A useful brief describes the roles attending, their current challenge and the conversation the organiser wants to create. Add enough context for the speaker to choose examples the room will recognise. The title can remain broad while the substance is specific.

Then decide how the format serves that purpose. A keynote can establish a question, a panel can explore competing perspectives and moderation can connect those perspectives to audience concerns. Agree the desired takeaway in language the organiser could use to explain why the session belongs in the programme.

Questions for your team

  • Which roles and responsibilities will be represented?
  • What difficult decision gives the theme practical relevance?
  • Which format best supports the intended conversation?

Evidence and interpretation

This article offers a perspective on programme design and investor support. The proposed session formats and examples are discussion starting points, not claims of measured customer or event outcomes.
