The approach

The same point of abandonment can reflect different problems: uncertainty about the options, fear of loss, difficulty understanding the information, or a decision that simply isn’t a priority. Each explanation suggests a different response.

U Impact combines structured self-report, knowledge checks and decision scenarios to investigate a defined customer group. We work with your team to interpret the findings and turn them into interventions worth testing.

The consulting output is practical: a diagnosis of the cohort, prioritised changes to investigate, and agreed measures for evaluating them. The work can inform guidance, onboarding or the way an investment choice is presented.

Write the research question before the solution

A useful brief names the customer group, the point in the journey and the decision that follows. “Improve onboarding” is difficult to investigate. “Understand why this group pauses when comparing these options” gives the team a shared starting point.

Bring together the evidence already available, such as journey analytics, support themes and customer explanations. An assessment can add context, but it should not replace what the team knows about the real interaction. Choose an intervention only after considering the explanations that the evidence can support.

Questions for your team

  • Where does the pause occur, and for which customers?
  • Which explanations fit the evidence you already have?
  • What outcome and review point will you agree before testing a change?

Evidence and interpretation

This article describes a research or event-design approach. Illustrative examples are not participant findings. Self-report, knowledge checks and hypothetical scenarios provide different kinds of evidence; they do not by themselves establish observed investment behaviour or the effect of an intervention.
