The approach
Imagine customers who are both choosing an investment. One wants a clearer explanation of the options. Another understands the options but feels uncertain about committing. This is an illustrative example: a shared journey stage doesn’t establish a shared obstacle.
Before personalising the next message or screen, it helps to ask what is getting in the way and what evidence would support that interpretation.
U Impact works with financial-services teams to combine assessment signals, examine a defined cohort and develop support options to test. That can mean reviewing explanations, structuring a conversation or designing a more useful next step.
Personalise around an evidenced need
A journey label helps organise research, but it does not tell a product team which message an individual should receive. Before assigning a support route, describe the signal that would justify it and the uncertainty that remains.
For example, a customer who cannot distinguish the options may benefit from a different explanation. A customer who can explain them but hesitates may need a conversation about the decision. Treat both as hypotheses. Keep it easy for people to ask for a different form of help if the initial interpretation does not fit.
Questions for your team
- What evidence distinguishes the support needs?
- Can the customer correct the interpretation or choose another route?
- How will you assess whether the support helped with the decision?
Evidence and interpretation
This article describes a research or event-design approach. Illustrative examples are not participant findings. Self-report, knowledge checks and hypothetical scenarios provide different kinds of evidence; they do not by themselves establish observed investment behaviour or the effect of an intervention.
